Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become a new client/patient?

Athletic Dynamics looks forward to providing a world-class physical therapy experience. As the owner of Athletic Dynamics, my mission is to empower you with the knowledge and tools to overcome pain while CONTINUING to train so you can optimize your peak performance in and out of the gym. To begin working with me, we begin with a 30-45 minute call to discuss your case. Click here to book your call or email me at matt@athleticdynamics.com for assistance.

Do I have to have an injury to come to PT?

No! Physical Therapists are functional movement specialists. We are able to identify limitations before they become a problem. As experts in the musculoskeletal system, we will find muscle imbalances that may contribute to future injuries. In the State of Michigan, a prescription for physical therapy is not needed if utilized for health promotion and injury prevention. Whether or not you will require a script after the initial evaluation will be determined on a case by case basis and you will be alerted if a script is needed at the evaluation.

What should I expect on my first visit?

Once you complete your Patient/Client Intake Packet, your medical history, surgical history and goals will be reviewed to prepare for the upcoming evaluation. The initial evaluation is about 1 hour in length and will include a discussion regarding your injury, current physical condition, and goals. From there, you will receive a comprehensive evaluation including range of motion, strength, soft tissue flexibility, stability, and functional movement testing. This information will help inform your individualized plan of care.

Do I need a referral or prescription from my doctor?

No, you do not need to see your doctor or get a referral prior to coming to Physical Therapy. You are granted direct access to physical therapy services for 3 weeks. If it is determined at your evaluation that a script is required, Michigan law will require a referral from a doctor after 3 weeks.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Please bring any referrals or prescriptions that were given to you by your doctor (if applicable). Please wear loose clothing, so the area around your injury can be viewed and your movement can be evaluated properly.

What do I wear?

Please wear comfortable, loose-fitted clothing. Ensure that the injured body part can be exposed if needed. Exercise attire is suggested.

What's the cancellation and no show policy?

The following are my policies regarding cancellations and no shows. This topic is taken very seriously because each late cancellation and no show affects you and another patient that could use that appointment time.

  • 24 hours notice is required in the event of a cancellation.

  • There is a 50% service charge for a cancellation without 24 hours notice (excluding personal illness).

  • There is a 100% service charge for a no show to your scheduled appointment.

Weather cancellation policy

Our weather cancellation policy is the same as our everyday cancellation policy. You must notify us 24 hours in advance, so you will not get charged the price of the session. Please monitor the weather the night beforehand to plan accordingly.
